Zürcher Oberland Medien takes over Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger
Zürcher Oberland Medien will acquire the Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger from the Swiss media group Tamedia during the first quarter of 2015.
Founded in 1925 and published by the AG of the same name, the Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger is the free publication organ for around 40 communities around Winterthur and reaches 67,000 readers every Tuesday with a circulation of 64,643 copies (Wemf 2014) (WEMF Mach Basic 2014-2). The publishing concept of the Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger is geared to the needs of residents, local businesses, associations and the public sector and thus complements the offering of the weekly newspapers Regio.ch and Glattaler published by Zürcher Oberland Medien.
According to the announcement, the new owner will continue to run the Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger and take over the existing editorial team. Tamedia holds a 37.6 percent stake in Zürcher Oberland Medien and had already sold the Glattaler to the media company based in Wetzikon, Zurich, in spring 2014. Printing of the Winterthurer Stadtanzeiger will continue to be provided by Tamedia's Bubenberg printing center. The parties have agreed not to disclose details of the sale.
