Yahoo closes search engine deal with Firefox
In the popular web browser Firefox, Yahoo will replace Google as the default search engine—at least in the U.S. Firefox developer Mozilla and the Internet company announced a five-year strategic partnership late Wednesday.
Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer also stated that there is a long-term roadmap for international cooperation. How much Yahoo will pay for this integration as a standard search engine is not known.
For Mozilla, it's a drastic change: in previous years, a large part of the Firefox makers' revenue came from the cooperation with Google, which yielded several hundred million dollars.
Firefox users could continue to select Google as their preferred search engine as well, Mozilla chief Chris Beard said. (SDA)
