Ringier turns down Axel Springer
The magazines *Cicero* and *Monopol* will not be included with the daily newspaper *Die Welt* in the future either. A planned partnership between Ringier and Axel Springer has fallen through.
This is according to the news magazine The mirror in an advance report on the upcoming issue. The plan was for Ringier's magazines Cicero and Monopol to be included in the daily newspaper on alternate Fridays - similar to the business magazine Bilanz, which is also distributed by Die Welt. Ringier and Axel Springer had been negotiating this since early summer. However, Ringier broke off talks two weeks ago, although the media company actually liked the idea due to the significant increase in circulation. The point of contention was a reduction in the production costs of the two magazines demanded by Axel Springer, which Ringier did not agree to, according to Spiegel. (hae)
