FCB Zurich stages big "lawn theater"

Sometimes the best actors can be found on the soccer field. That’s why, in its latest play, the Rigiblick Theater analyzes the World Cup matches in Brazil based on acting criteria.

For all those who were unable to attend the event live, the highlights from the studio stage are now available as a video - including presenter Jann Billet (Daniel Rohr) and the two "theater experts" Thierry Grass (Walter Andreas Müller) and Zlatan Yukan (David Bröckelmann).

The idea, the play itself and the video were created in close collaboration with the FCB Zurich agency. "Our aim was to find a concept that would get the theater talked about in times of absolute football euphoria," says theater director Daniel Rohr, explaining the background to the creation of "Rasentheater". And since every fan has probably called a footballer an actor at some point, the production, which consistently draws parallels between football and acting, is likely to strike a chord with many viewers.

Just like in real sports talk, things get heated on stage: Robin van Persie's header goal is discussed, as is Suárez's bite or Pepe's red card after his foul on Thomas Müller. The "theater experts" examine the acting qualities of the respective players with the utmost care - and at the same time point out potential for improvement. The suggestions for improving the performance are then acted out by the professional actors themselves in some scenes.
