Last but not least: rainbow burger

During the 2014 San Francisco Gay Pride Parade, Burger King launched the «Proud Whopper,» sparking curiosity, confusion, and tears of emotion.

The annual gay pride parade took place in San Francisco on June 28 and 29. The demonstrations for more tolerance and rights towards same-sex love were used by numerous companies as an opportunity to present themselves in a particularly progressive and cosmopolitan light. Employees from local companies such as Google, Facebook and Apple marched along and distributed gifts to the spectators. Levi's produced a specially created rainbow collection. Not surprisingly, Burger King also dressed up for more tolerance and announced the "Proud Whopper" on a huge poster in front of the branch on Market Street.

The opinions of the passers-by interviewed varied widely. While one burly motorcyclist wondered dismissively whether homosexuals eat fast food at all, another thought it was about time. The restaurant staff asked the customers - unemotionally, as with extra cheese or ketchup - whether they wanted the Proud Whopper. When asked what was special about this version, they were clueless. Wrapped in rainbow paper... but what makes it different inside from its "regular" namesake and Burger King classic par excellence? Figure it out for yourself! As is always the case when fast food restaurants come out with new creations, there were plenty of curious people who came out in search of that special gay flavor. See for yourself:

The promotion, created by the David/Miami agency, and the plausible resolution earned Burger King a lot of attention and likes on social media. (hae)
