Deadline for Christoph Mörgeli definitely expired
The Federal Supreme Court will not reinstate the deadline that Mörgeli missed for filing his appeal against the «Rundschau» broadcast. The SVP National Council member had submitted an incomplete legal brief to the Lausanne court and failed to supplement it in a timely manner.
The Federal Supreme Court had sent Christoph Mörgeli a registered letter asking him to submit the decision of the lower court. However, the SVP politician did not collect the letter from the post office due to absence and let the deadline set by the court pass unused. The Federal Supreme Court has now rejected the request to restore the deadline. Even as a legal layman, Mörgeli should have expected to receive mail from the court. It was up to him to ensure that he received the relevant mail in good time.
Criticism of activity
In the program "Rundschau" on Swiss television SRF at the end of March 2013, there was a critical report on the dissertations supervised by Professor Christoph Mörgeli at the Institute of Medical History at the University of Zurich. Mörgeli unsuccessfully appealed against this to the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television. The National Council filed an appeal with the Federal Supreme Court against the decision of the Appeals Board in December 2013, but without attaching the contested document, which is required by law.
