Last but not least: Shared tics, half the suffering

We all have secret quirks and strange habits that we usually keep to ourselves. A new website collects and publishes them. There seems to be a lot of interest in this.

The phenomenon is called "spleen". It refers to peculiar habits, slightly crazy rituals - or as Wikipedia says: "Today, "to have a quirk" in colloquial language means to have a little craziness, quirk, strange idea or quirk." Everyone has them, but we usually prefer to keep them to ourselves out of shame and fear of not being understood. At least until today. Because the creators of the popular German blog and web smorgasbord Schleckysilberstein.com launched the project on Tuesday Spleen24 launched.

"We all have quirks, idiosyncrasies and weirdness that we wouldn't tell anyone about. But how about sharing and comparing them anonymously? Our new service Spleen24 does just that," says the announcement.

Less than 24 hours online, it is already clear that people's need to communicate seems to be great. Per Form every visitor can anonymously describe what drives him or her crazy in his or her own way. The quirk is published within 15 minutes. After more than 300 published descriptions, it becomes clear that humans are strange creatures. But since we're obviously all weird in some way, it's okay. The spectrum ranges from details about toilet habits (toilet paper only for appearances and for guests) to people who must always have the TV volume set to a positive result at football matches (21 = 2:1). And and and. Sooner or later, everyone will find something they know from their own lives. Good luck. (hae)
