Le Temps: Biver has lost interest
Watch industry magnate Jean-Claude Biver has backed out of the plan to take over Le Temps. According to the Sunday newspaper, Christoph Blocher and Tito Tettamanti are still in the running.
After the NZZ Jean-Claude Biver has now also withdrawn from the race for Le Temps, the daily newspaper in western Switzerland. As recently as the beginning of November, the watchmaking entrepreneur had submitted a dossier (Werbewoche.ch reported). In the meantime, he has "got cold feet," as the Sonntagszeitung knows. "The project is too big for me to handle alone," says Biver. He did not feel competent enough. Investors from the industry would have the advantage of being able to exploit synergies. The contractual commitment to Tamedia in distribution and printing, which Biver took from a confidential sales dossier, would have opened his eyes.
Christoph Blocher and Tito Tettamanti are still in the running with their Medienvielfalt Holding. The duo is keeping a low profile and does not want to provide any information on the possible takeover of Le Temps "in the course of the process". (soz/hae)
