Last but not least: A fast band

A guerrilla marketing campaign featuring the Original Appenzeller Streichmusik Alder from Urnäsch promotes UPC Cablecom.

The Original Streichmusik Alder from Urnäsch has already broken new musical ground several times. For example, the almost 90-year-old head of the family, Ueli Alder, performed with rapper Bligg in 2007 and stormed the hit parade with him. The Alders' tightrope walk between tradition-conscious and modern at the same time goes down surprisingly well with the older audience. This has apparently inspired UPC to launch a guerrilla campaign.

The string music on the stage in the middle of Biel's old town begins tranquilly, but whenever the audience operates the strange lever in front of the stage, the Alder family shifts up a gear musically and comes up with a new show interlude. "Speed is great," is how UPC Cablecom unravels the unusual spectacle at the end, advertising fast Internet.

The action obviously struck a chord with the public. The clip of the guerrilla action was first posted on Wednesday and by the evening had already been viewed over 22,000 times on YouTube. Either not only from the older generation - or this older generation is already quite agile with new media. According to initial indications, the idea for the guerrilla campaign came from the Profero agency in London. Swiss folk music has long since achieved global fame - not least because of the Alder family. (sis)
