Four science journalists honored
The 'Prix Média akademien-schweiz,« which comes with a prize of 40,000 francs, goes this year to four science journalists: Martin Läubli (Tages-Anzeiger), Alan Niederer (Neue Zürcher Zeitung), Reto U. Schneider (NZZ Folio), and Etienne Dubuis (Le Temps).
The four prizewinners are being honored for their services to the communication of scientific content, as announced by the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences on Friday. The prizes will be awarded on September 26 at the Sciencecomm13 congress in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
Etienne Dubuis from Le Temps is honored for a series of articles about his cat. He documented his four-legged friend's steps during the day with a camera and at night using GPS. Reto U. Schneider is honored for his research on the article "Not Kevin" about the psychosocial consequences of first names. Alan Niederer receives the prize for an article on breast cancer and Martin Läubli for five articles on the subject of energy.
