Last but not least: A chair goes around the world
Even though IKEA furniture can be a pain to assemble sometimes—for some people, it’s a gateway to the world. At least in the ads.
The spot by SCPF tells the story of an old man who sits down on the same park bench every day - and one day discovers that his seat has already been taken by a couple feeding pigeons. In his time of need, the elderly gentleman doesn't eat flies, but drives to Ikea and buys a chair. The newfound freedom is soon no longer limited to the park, but draws ever wider circles.
The two-minute commercial not only shows that it's not unusual to start a new beginning with inspiring new furniture. It also shows that it's never too late to start something good. And most importantly, it shows that they don't last forever, nor do they age beautifully - thank goodness they're at least affordable for everyone the next time around. (hae)
