Audience Council: Praise for SRF Sport Online - with some reservations

The Audience Council praises Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) Sport's online offerings. The site is considered unique in Switzerland, primarily because of its high-quality video content. However, the council criticizes the fact that niche sports are given too little coverage.

SRG Sport offers what the mass audience expects on the Internet: serious sports reporting with high topicality value, according to a statement from the SRG Audience Council for German-speaking Switzerland on Thursday. The audience council even classifies the live information on the football matches as "best in class". SRF sets standards here, it continues. The detailed background information and commentaries also clearly set the service apart from others. The Audience Council monitored the work of SRF Sport Online from July 1 to 31.

However, the sports portal does less well when it comes to fringe sports. There is hardly anything to be found on these, writes the audience council. A large proportion of these sports are grouped together in the last position of the navigation bar under "more sports". According to the audience council, a function would be desirable here where the user could individually compile the offer under "my Sport".

The homepage was also criticized. It is "confusing" and the structure and thematic organization are not immediately obvious. The Council of the Audience also describes the fact that a large part of the content cannot be accessed from abroad as a downer of the online presence. (SDA)
