Berliner Zeitung accelerates staff cuts

The press and media industry seems to have weathered the major wave of layoffs for now, but the cutbacks continue. Now the Berliner Zeitung, Berlin’s largest subscription newspaper, plans to reduce its workforce.

Berliner Verlag has already made a voluntary redundancy offer to all employees who are prepared to leave the company, as Oliver Rohloff, Managing Director of Berliner Verlag, confirmed to Horizont.net on Friday. He cites the sharp slump in advertising revenues throughout the publishing industry as the reason.
