"Allegra Rumantschs" inspires audience council
In the opinion of the SRG Audience Council, "Swissness at its best" was the radio special week "Allegra Rumantschs" in June. The Council also liked "Jazz in Switzerland" - but with reservations.
The audience council primarily observed the two daily one-hour programs in the morning and evening on both stations. The presenters presented the program in German and in Romansh. The audience council found this combination challenging, but it had its appeal.
In a diverse, informative and entertaining way, SRF 3 brought the German-speaking Swiss audience closer to the Romansh languages, the region and the culture, writes the audience council. It particularly appreciated the fact that Romansh was not presented as a "nostalgic relic," but that modern, young Rumantsch was given a chance to shine. The first two parts of the language region trilogy were "Chez les Welsch" in 2011 and "Buongiorno Svizzera" in 2012. The third part was broadcast from June 10 to 14.
"Jazz in Switzerland"
The audience council also gave a largely positive assessment of the three-part TV series "Jazz in Switzerland. It showed the development of this music in this country since the beginning of the 20th century. The series was both amusing and instructive. The fact that the music had been used in a rather illustrative way, in addition to conveying jazz knowledge, was perceived as negative by individual council members. They felt that the music had been neglected. Some also described the late Sunday evening broadcasting time as an "imposition". (SDA)
