Sonntagsblick: Christine Maier becomes Editor-in-Chief
TV journalist Christine Maier will take over as editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick effective November 1, 2013. Rolf Cavalli, who has been serving as interim editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick since November, plans to focus on the online division as editor-in-chief of Blick.ch.
The former editorial director of the SRF discussion program "Club" and current presenter of the SRF news magazine "10vor10" will take over as head of Sonntagsblick as of November 1, 2013.
Rolf Cavalli, who has headed Sonntagsblick on an interim basis since November 2012, will once again focus entirely on the online division of the Blick Group as Editor-in-Chief of Blick.ch. Cavalli remains chairman of the editors-in-chief in the newsroom as well as head of all digital channels of the Blick Group.
Marc Walder, CEO of Ringier, on the new management structure: "I am extremely pleased that we have been able to win Christine Maier, one of the most established and versatile journalists, as Editor-in-Chief of Switzerland's biggest Sunday newspaper. As Editor-in-Chief of Blick.ch, Rolf Cavalli will, in addition to day-to-day business, primarily drive the digital development of the Blick Group and manage the associated change management in the newsroom."
Christine Maier studied law at the University of Zurich for five semesters after graduating from business school. She began her TV career at the age of 21, working in various capacities at Swiss television station SRF from 1987, and also at ZDF and Bayerischer Rundfunk between 1991 and 1998. From 1990 to 1995, she worked for five years in print journalism at Schweizer Illustrierte. In 2001, she joined the program "Zischtigsclub," later "Club," as editor and presenter, and took over as editorial director in 2006. Since summer 2011, Maier has been with the news magazine "10vor10." Maier is giving up her activities at Schweizer Fernsehen, SRF announced on Tuesday.
With regard to the editor-in-chief of Blick, the definitive solution is expected in the next few weeks, according to the statement. Marc Walder and Andrea Bleicher, who have been managing Switzerland's largest paid newspaper on an interim basis since February 2013, will take their time to settle the outstanding issues.
