The 15th Aargau/Solothurn Media Prize, with a total prize fund of 12,000 francs, goes to newspaper journalist and author Max Dohner, photographer Hanspeter Bärtschi, radio journalist Sandra Witmer, and television journalist Stephan Gassner.

The President of the Aargau/Solothurn Media Prize Association, Thomas Müller, was pleased to welcome a record number of over 180 guests to the Stadttheater Olten. Urs Hofmann, member of the cantonal government of Aargau, paid tribute to the excellent journalistic activities of the regional and local media companies in the two cantons and was delighted at the great interest that the AG/SO Media Award now enjoys beyond the cantonal borders.

The jury of experts, led by jury president Peter Schellenberg and the heads of the jury Josefa Haas (print), Nicole Aeby (photo), Vinzenz Wyss (radio) and Toni Zwyssig (TV), selected one prize winner each from over 120 entries submitted.

In the print category, the winner is Max Dohner (photo), journalist and author of the Aargauer Zeitung with the article "Drama of an engineer at the Teufelsbrücke".

In the photo category, the jury of experts, headed by Nicole Aeby, decided this year in favor of the photo series "Ein Streifzug durch die verlassene Sappi" by Hanspeter Bärtschi, photographer at the AZ Solothurner Zeitung. The media prize in the radio category went to Sandra Witmer, a journalist at Radio 32, for the series "Depressions". In the TV category, the jury chose TV journalist Stephan Gassner from the Tele M1 channel, for his contribution ALS patient Thomas "Unteregger".

The Aargau/Solothurn Media Prize is organized by the media companies based in the two cantons (press, radio and television) and by the cantonal governments of Aargau and Solothurn. The aim of the prize is to recognize and promote journalistic quality in regional reporting.
