Last but not least: "Asshole regulations at SRF"

On the movie show «Box Office,» SRF showed women’s genitals but covered up those of men. Thanks to the beep, the word «asshole» becomes a «beep» on SRF—that’s how SRF’s «asshole policy» works.

Criticized the sexist prudery on SRF TV Infosperber.ch on Tuesday. The sad comedy of European sex tourists in Africa is the subject of a TV report on Ulrich Seidl's film "Paradise Love". SRF took this as an opportunity to express an absurd form of prudery with signs. While the main actress lies stark naked on a bed, a sign with the inscription "Box Office SFR Kultur" hovers above the penis of her black lover sitting on the sofa. Infosperber.ch suspects that this is not just embarrassing prudery, but outright sexism or even racism. "A black man's genitals are shocking, so the TV logo is immediately superimposed, whereas it's not a problem for a white woman," it says. But you could just as easily describe the slip-up as a blunder by the morality watchdogs of our fee-based television, who probably couldn't quite find the line between sex/porn movie, child protection and discussion of a movie with nude content. However, if you read the comments on the film trailer on YouTube, you no longer hold it quite so against the "SRF censorship committee" that they unfortunately didn't grasp the message of the film either and ended up in the middle of the cliché with the censorship block, although that's not exactly where the film wanted to start.

The second SRF censorship blunder could also be filed in this category. Thanks to the SRF censorship whistle, "assholes" in the report on the film "Measuring the World" become "piip" holes, while in the same box office the word "Füdle-Tätsch" goes unnoticed on the channel. The Infosperber naming "asshole regulations" at SRF TV now appears not entirely unjustified in the larger context. (uma)
