Mörgeli: SRF denies Weltwoche investigation
Die Weltwoche claims to know the identity of the anonymous source who accused Christoph Mörgeli in *Rundschau*. SRF denies this and states that the report is false.
According to SRF, however, the exposed dentist is not the person who revealed details about Mörgeli's practices in doctoral supervision in the said article. "Rundschau"-Moderator Sandro Brotz also reacted via Twitter, announcing that Weltwoche had outed "the wrong guy." In a statement on Wednesday afternoon, Swiss Television writes:
1. it is not true that Weltwoche has located the anonymous informant who appeared as a key witness in the "Rundschau". The "Rundschau" states this decidedly. The person who testified anonymously in the "Rundschau" is definitely not the dentist named by the "Weltwoche". The "Rundschau" has never contacted this person. The "Rundschau" takes note of the attempted disclosure of the identity of the witness. At the same time, we note that the protection of sources was and remains granted by "Rundschau".
2 The "Rundschau" also states that a second witness was quoted correctly - contrary to the representation in Weltwoche. The "Rundschau" rejects these and all other insinuations in all form. We continue to adhere to our reporting.
SRF News Online also introduced a Interview with SRF journalist Marc Meschenmoser, who works for the "Rundschau" has set the discussion about Christoph Mörgeli's transcription doctoral thesis rolling. The real SRF witness has a very high credibility, he said, because he incriminates himself with the statements against Mörgeli. "With the attempted unmasking, the reprisals threatening the informant are just proven."
Opposite Tages-Anzeiger/Newsnet Weltwoche author Baur sticks to the allegations. In addition to the silhouette of a shadow that someone had recognized, he said, there were several indications and sources. Testimony against testimony - how the case will continue, will be shown on Thursday at the media conference called by Mörgeli. (hae)
