New BAG campaign on organ donation

With a short film, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH wants to sensitize people in Switzerland to the topic of organ donation. "The Decision" is intended to show how important it is to decide for or against organ donation and to communicate this to your relatives.

In this way, you save them from an emotionally difficult situation and help save the lives of seriously ill people, the FOPH said in a statement. The film shows two middle-aged friends in a rather threatening situation. In a car above the abyss, one asks the other if he would donate his organs after a possible fall into the sea.

It turns out that although he has decided to donate, he has not recorded his will and has not communicated it to anyone. What sounds very serious is exaggerated in the film and handled in a funny way. The two unlucky people are not at a loss for punchlines, even in their predicament. Through this approach, the film aims to playfully open up access to questions that have a serious background and whose answers are often postponed for too long.

The short film can be seen from April 8 on the website The-decision.ch. Excerpts from it will also be broadcast as TV commercials. According to the press release, the awareness campaign is part of the overall "Health 2020" strategy. One of the goals of this comprehensive strategy is to improve the conditions for organ donation in hospitals and to gradually increase the number of organ donors in our country in order to be able to save the lives of even more seriously ill people.
