Last but not least: Dr. Pepper for $3 million at the Super Bowl
To celebrate its 125th anniversary, DR. Pepper is treating itself to the Super Bowl. And Gene Simmons.
Dr. Pepper is taking part in the Super Bowl for the first time - with a 30-second commercial. The Dr. Pepper Snapple Group has bought advertising time during Super Bowl XLIV to raise awareness of its new soft drink Dr. Pepper Cherry to mark the start of its 125th anniversary. This is the first time in the company's history that the drinks manufacturer has placed an advertisement during the final game of the National Football League. According to Pressetext.de, media experts estimate that the 30-second commercial will cost around three million dollars. According to Jim Trebilcock, Chief Marketing Officer of Dr. Pepper Snapple, this is probably the most expensive commercial he has ever bought in his life, but it is also the only commercial that will be watched by 100 million people. In the commercial for the new drink, Gene Simmons and his colleagues from the rock band Kiss are beating the advertising drum. Simmons has been doing this since March 2009 and the campaign is appropriately called: "Trust me, I'm a Dr."
