SSM: in solidarity with Syndicom and Imprint

The Swiss Syndicate of Media Professionals SSM, the trade union for the electronic media, is dismayed by the termination of the collective labor agreement by publishers in French-speaking Switzerland.

Especially in times of media upheaval, the regulatory function of collective labor agreements negotiated by social partners is needed, writes SSM in a statement on the current events in French-speaking Switzerland. It is therefore incomprehensible that the publishers are putting this advantage at risk by terminating the CLA.

The fact that there has been no CLA in German-speaking Switzerland for years proves that working conditions are deteriorating in a situation without a contract - with the known negative effects on the journalistic quality of newspapers and magazines. From this point of view, too, the dismissal is a fatal and worrying sign.

SSM is therefore calling on publishers and their associations to regulate working conditions by concluding decent collective labor agreements. SSM assures the leading trade unions Syndicom and Impressum of its support and solidarity and encourages all journalists to stand up for their CLA.
