Imprint: DADP lays off seven editors

The German news agency DADP is laying off seven editors in Switzerland through its subsidiary FLSCH. Salaries will no longer be paid.

The DADP branch dismissed seven editors from the former French-language AP office in Bern (Werbewoche.ch reported). As Impressum wrote in a media communiqué on Friday, wages will no longer be paid, "no consultations, no contractually owed compensation, no social cushioning or accompanying measures". FLSCH acquired AP France and AP Suisse Romande in the summer of this year and continued to operate under the name "SIPA".

Since the dismissal, journalists have been asserting their rights with the help of the journalists' association Impressum and demanding social measures. According to the association, some employees are contractually entitled to severance pay in the event of dismissal for economic reasons. And in the case of all employees, it is assumed that they have been dismissed unfairly because the duty to consult has been breached. According to Swiss law, this would lead to the employer being liable to pay compensation of up to 6 months' wages.

The employees will now take legal action against their employer with the help of the Swiss association, according to Impressum.
