Le Temps: fewer redundancies than announced

The Journalists' Association Impressum reports that the number of job cuts at Le Temps has been reduced. However, the association declined to tell the SDA exactly how many jobs will now be cut.

According to the imprint, however, the number "could be significantly reduced. This was "thanks to the great solidarity among the members of the editorial team. This included, among other things, staff reductions. For those who will be laid off, an acceptable social plan has been worked out, Impressum wrote further. The association took part in the negotiations with the management of the French-speaking Swiss daily Le Temps as a representative of the employees. "The support for the dismissed persons can be described as correct in view of the economic situation of the company," the communiqué said. Imprint, however, expressed "concern about the possible impact of the layoffs on editorial quality."

Le Temps had announced in mid-November that it was laying off 18 employees due to economic difficulties (Werbewoche.ch reported). The round of cost-cutting will have an impact on the journalistic offering, said Director Valérie Boagno at the time. (SDA)
