Buses around Thun, Spiez and Interlaken now with TV on the road

Seit heute sind die ersten Busse der Verkehrsbetriebe STI mit dem neuen Fahrgastsystem von Passenger TV unterwegs. Bis im Sommer 2013 wird die ganze Flotte ausgerüstet sein.

The Passenger TV program can be seen on the double screens in the buses of the STI transport company in Thun and the region. In the coming months, all vehicles in the entire region around Thun, Spiez, right Lake Thun, Interlaken, West and East Amt will be equipped with this TV for on the road. One screen in the bus will display information from the STI transport company on connection times, routes and disruptions. On the other screen, Passenger TV provides continuously updated news on sports, politics, economy, meteo and culture.

Up to a maximum of 25 percent advertising can be inserted between the news blocks. This is particularly interesting for local SMEs because they can focus their information precisely on route and time from their own PC, Passenger TV said in a statement on Thursday. The public transport company participates in the revenue from advertising and can thus improve the self-financing ratio. The focus is on the approximately 15 million passengers that STI transports each year.

The double screens are already present in numerous regional as well as national public transport companies such as Postbus. Today, Passenger TV reaches over 685,000 viewers daily in 22 cantons. Passenger TV is a product of the Bernese company Livesystems and won the Swiss Economic Award this year.
