Now in its 92nd year and just one and a half years after its relaunch under the new name «Schweizer Monat,» the magazine is celebrating its 1,000th issue this October. Since its relaunch in March 2011, the magazine has seen a 60 percent increase in subscriptions.

A "somewhat different" anniversary reading with book prize winner Catalin Dorian Florescu is to be held at Theater Stok on October 8. Columnist and pianist Rahel Senn has traveled to Switzerland for an exclusive anniversary concert in Zurich. The talent, recently named the first Swiss woman to be named a "Young Steinway Artist" and ravingly recommended by Federal Councillor Alain Berset, will perform at the Volkshaus on October 14 at 5 pm. The debate on "Common Good/Capitalism" launched in the current magazine will be continued and sharpened on October 24, starting at 6 p.m. at the Zunfthaus zur Waag in Zurich, in a debate between Hermann Lübbe, Philippe Mastronardi, Gerhard Schwarz and Timo Meynhardt.

The special supplement "Literarischer Monat" is to include a previously unpublished excerpt from Christian Kracht's novel "Imperium," which was hotly debated in the spring. After its launch in 2011, "Literarischer Monat" is already well positioned this year, according to a "Schweizer Monat" release. The launch of a separate subscription is scheduled for the beginning of 2013.
