Yahoo chief Mayer brings in Ken Goldman as new finance chief

Marissa Mayer, who has been Yahoo's CEO since July, has filled a key position on her executive team. She brought in Ken Goldman as the new chief financial officer. He previously worked at the software company Siebel, among other places.

Former Google manager Mayer must ensure that Yahoo's business gets back on track. The Internet pioneer has fallen behind Google in the lucrative advertising business and is being squeezed by newcomers like Facebook. Goldman brings more than 25 years of experience as chief financial officer of various companies, Mayer praised the new hire. "We're excited about him joining Yahoo," she said. His first day on the job is Oct. 22, Yahoo announced Tuesday in Sunnyvale, California.

So far, Tim Morse is in the post. He has been with Yahoo since June 2009 and will leave later this fall. Where he's going is unknown. "I think I can speak for everyone in wishing him the best," Mayer said. The Yahoo chief is expecting her first child in the fall. By then, her executive team will have to be in place, even if Mayer doesn't really want to take any time off. Only in August, she had won Kathy Savitt from the fashion startup Lockerz as her new head of marketing. (sda)
