Last but not least: The mind scanner
Following the body scanner comes a scanner that can decipher people's reactions. The technology developed by the Israeli company WeCU is designed to detect when someone intends to carry out an attack.
According to Welt.de, the researchers are using knowledge about the workings of the brain: everyone who plans a particular action carries a collection of associations related to the action in their head - no one can defend themselves against this. For example, if you are on the way to a football match of your favorite team, you unconsciously associate a ball, the color of the jersey or the team's coach with it. If such key stimuli are shown on screens on the plane or on electronic advertising boards in the airport building, people who are not interested in the game do not react. For people on their way to the stadium, on the other hand, the brain becomes active because of the emotional involvement. This leads to physical changes, such as dilated pupils or an accelerated pulse. Terrorists can also be unmasked using this - here, of course, greatly simplified - method. For example, if they see pictures of technical details of a bomb, they unconsciously show a physical reaction. Or a code word that has previously become known through telephone surveillance is incorporated into a standard announcement on the airport premises. So far so good, but of course misuse cannot be ruled out: Depending on the choice of key stimulus, it is possible to control what information can be obtained about passers-by. The display of a party logo, for example, can reveal a person's party preference. Sexual preferences could also be determined without any problems. "Thoughts are free" used to be. Well, if we can fly safely again in return...
