Last but not least: Valentine's Day 2.0 - with real sex?

July 24 is Virtual Love Day—the Valentine’s Day for everyone who has met and fallen in love online. Thanks to social media, dating agencies, and chat rooms, anyone can find someone quickly and easily these days—even for real-life sex.

On the Day of Virtual Love, couples who have met online are to confess their love for each other. Cyber sex and casual dating in particular have been booming recently. Instead of looking for their dream partner for life, many Swiss people are now looking online for a partner for bed without long-term commitments. In Switzerland alone, 300,000 users have already registered with casual dating provider C-date. "If you want to turn virtual love into real sex, you should know exactly what you're looking for," says psychologist and sex therapist Dania Schiftan, "in order to be successful, you should communicate your desired sex fantasy as precisely and openly as possible during the search - there's no reason to be shy here." For example, if you say you're looking for a threesome, you'll quickly get feedback from like-minded people.

The same rules apply to communication as with any online flirtation: instead of being able to speak, however, a good and confident writing style is required - the more personal and direct, the better. "The important thing is to have fun trying it out," says Schiftan, "nobody has anything to lose!"

However, caution is advised when enjoying this Valentine's Day 2.0 fairytale. After all, a good name can be lost during online dating, or a superior can stumble across the wrong cybersex site. But cybersex doesn't even require condoms. And social media babies are not a means of exerting pressure for alimony.
