Volvo Art Session for the second time at HB Zurich

From Thursday, June 7 to Monday, June 11, 2012, Volvo Switzerland transformed Zurich main station into an open street art studio for the second time. Seven Chinese artists painted, sprayed and redesigned the new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid again and again.

In this art event, they were to reflect their interpretation of the sustainable mobility of tomorrow - and at the same time provide an exciting insight into the contemporary Chinese art scene. The opening event on Thursday evening, June 7, in the form of a live art performance with dance and Chinese street art marked the official start of the second edition of the "Volvo Art Session". Volvo brand ambassador Melanie Winiger was part of the performance.

The new Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid was at the center of the public art campaign and became the three-dimensional canvas for the creative vision of the seven Chinese artists. An additional challenge for the artists was the given time frame for each design: they each had just half a day to realize their concepts.

Every day, photographer Francesco Carrozzini staged the event and the artists. Carrozzini not only documented the individual work steps, but also portrayed the Chinese street artists. Selected works were documented in a photo book and exhibited as part of an art exhibition in the fall of 2012. The artistic transformation of the three-dimensional "V60 Plug-in Hybrid Canvas" was also captured by a high-end photo camera, which took a picture of the vehicle and background every 10 seconds. The Volvo Art Session thus also became a flowing, cinematic document. The entire art event was also broadcast live via webcam on Volvoartsession.com transferred.

The Volvo Art Session is an art project by Volvo Automobile (Switzerland), which was intended to emphasize the company's artistic commitment, design expertise and innovative spirit. The event at Zurich Main Station was realized in collaboration with the production company EQAL Visual Productions from Zurich.
