Thomas Vollmoeller becomes new CEO of Xing
The current CEO of Swiss Valora Holding, Thomas Vollmoeller, was appointed to the Xing Executive Board on Tuesday, effective August 15, 2012. He will take over as Chairman of the Executive Board no later than January 15, 2013.
Stefan Gross-Selbeck, CEO of Xing since January 2009, will not renew his contract in order to pursue new professional challenges. Xing wrote this in a statement on Tuesday.
After completing his studies, Vollmoeller worked for ten years at McKinsey & Co. in Hamburg and Düsseldorf. Since 1997, he has held various positions at Tchibo, most recently as a member of the Executive Board responsible for the entire Non Food division. During his time at Tchibo, Thomas Vollmoeller was also responsible for the successful development of the e-commerce business. In 2008, he moved to the Valora Group, where he took on the role of Chairman of the Board.
Gross-Selbeck is leaving Xing at his own request after his contract expires in January 2013, according to the statement. Under his leadership, Xing has further expanded its leading position in German-speaking Europe with over 5.5 million members. Thanks to his product launches in the areas of e-Recruiting, Advertising and Events, among others, revenues in these business areas almost tripled. His time as CEO included the acquisition of Amiando, the expansion of the workforce from around 160 to over 450 employees, and the company's promotion to the Tec Dax. Xing's enterprise value had roughly doubled during this time.
