Swissinfo.ch: Audience Council now only with five members

The Public Advisory Board of Swissinfo.ch, the SRG's international platform, has been reduced from twelve to five members. Going forward, these members intend to focus on non-national languages such as English and Chinese.

The Audience Council constituted itself last Wednesday in Bern, as the body announced on Wednesday. The Board Committee had already decided in December that the Audience Council would be reduced to five members due to budget cuts and restructuring. At the same time, the main focus of the audience representation will also change. In the future, it wants to focus primarily on non-Swiss languages: English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese and Japanese.

President of the Audience Council is Walter Suter, former head of the Consular and Financial Inspectorate of the FDFA. Bookseller and author Diccon Bewes was elected vice president. Also on the board are Geneva professor Charles Genequand, Brazilian professor Jacques Marcovitch, and Chok Woo, an engineer and manager from Bern.

The new ombudswoman of Swissinfo.ch is Sylvia Egli von Matt, director of the Swiss School of Journalism Maz. (SDA)
