Dominique Hiltbrunner takes over Swiss Bauer stake from Espace Media
Dominique Hiltbrunner will take over the specialist media Agrar and the 49% stake in Schweizer Bauer from Espace Media on July 1, 2012.
According to a press release issued on Friday, the Basel-based media entrepreneur will manage Schweizer Bauer together with the Ökonomische und Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft des Kantons Bern (OGG), which will continue to hold a 51% stake in the specialist newspaper. The contracts with all 27 members of the editorial and sales team will continue unchanged.
Der Schweizer Bauer was founded in 1846 by the OGG and was managed by it for almost 150 years. In 1992, Espace Media took over 49 percent of the trade newspaper as well as the management. The leading Swiss agricultural newspaper is published twice a week on Wednesday and Saturday with a circulation of 30,841 copies.
As part of the merger with Edipresse Suisse, the Tamedia media group decided in April 2011 to divest its radio and TV stations and specialist media. In mid-August 2011, Tamedia had already announced the sale of Automobil Revue and Revue Automobile to Dominique Hiltbrunner. The parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the transfer of the stake in Schweizer Bauer.
