Swiss sports television SSF launches new television concept with comprehensive app strategy
Starting in spring 2012, the Swiss sports television channel SSF will realign its programming offerings as part of an online strategy. At the heart of this strategy is an app structure that makes the entire program lineup available on all mobile devices and provides direct access to SSF content on all hybrid TV sets.
The switch to the app strategy and full digitization will take place in parallel with the existing broadcast operations, which will continue to be operated with a new structure. As the reach in the German-speaking part of Switzerland does not allow for the refinancing of a full range of sports programming, but the need for more TV presence for Swiss sport has been identified, SSF will increasingly address sports-specific target groups directly in future.
With the new app concept, Swiss sports television SSF is aligning itself even more consistently as a special-interest channel and thus as a window for Swiss fringe and popular sport. This is because the additional Internet TV channel can be produced and distributed more cheaply than the current broadcast operation, giving even more associations, clubs and event organizers access to high-quality sports reporting in television quality. The necessary structural and technical adjustments for the new orientation of SSF will be ensured in the first four months of the current year. The first online offerings with sports-specific apps will be launched on a trial basis in February. The entire app structure will be available from summer 2012.
