New program for SF 2
SF2 is trying to reignite interest in its programming. To that end, new talk shows, documentaries, and a music magazine will debut on February 29.
By changing its programming, SF2 is responding to a sharp drop in ratings. The station currently achieves a market share of between 2 and 3 percent on the eve and in the first part of the main evening program - from 7 to 8 p.m. - and thus little more than the repeat channel SF info. This is what the NZZ am Sonntag writes.
The changeover will focus on formats that Schweizer Fernsehen produces itself. These will be shown at 7 p.m. "We are trying out new ideas and new minds," says Hansruedi Schoch, the head of programming at Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen, according to NZZ am Sonntag. In concrete terms, this means that on Mondays the talk show "Focus" will be broadcast, on Tuesdays a reportage, on Wednesdays "Box Office", the program about the cinema program, and on Thursdays a talk show with young presenters. These are to hold conversations outside the TV studio. For example, the show about commuters will be recorded on a train during rush hour. A new music magazine is planned for Fridays. SF 2 is producing this together with the radio station Virus.
Since there is little money available for the new broadcasts, the funds at SF 2 are to be saved elsewhere. Among other things, Swiss TV will refrain from showing expensively purchased films late at night that reach only a small audience. In the main evening program, however, SF 2 wants to continue showing new feature films and series. Here, a stronger focus on European productions is planned.
According to NZZ am Sonntag, Hansruedi Schoch hopes that the change will result in a better program flow. The changes will be implemented as of February 29. The management of Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen will then take stock in the summer of which programs have proved successful.
