Last but not least: Bye Bye Viaguara
A Polish company wanted to name its energy drink "Viaguara." But that didn't sit well at all with Viagra manufacturer Pfizer.
Pfizer filed an objection to the brand name. And the European Court of Justice came to the conclusion that the name constituted "unfair exploitation of the reputation of the Viagra trademark". In addition, the two names are very similar. According to the judges, anyone taking an energy drink should not hope for the potency-enhancing effect of erectile stimulants. In addition, the reputation of the Viagra brand "goes beyond the public targeted by the medicinal products in question". Where they are right, they are right, the judges. The drinks manufacturer also claimed that its products had a strengthening and stimulating effect on the psyche and body. This also did not sit well with the judges: the consumer could "tend to buy them in the belief that they have properties similar to those of inducing an increased libido". Whether humanity is really as naive as the judges believe remains to be seen. What is certain, however, is that the Poles will have to find a new name for their magic potion ... how about Redbulluarana, for example?
