NZZ acquires a 49 percent stake in Adwebster
The NZZ Media Group is acquiring a minority stake in Adwebster. Following a successful market launch in Switzerland, the company's business model is set to be introduced in Austria as well in the first quarter of 2012.
This was announced by the NZZ media group on Wednesday evening. "With a view to our planned expansion into other countries, we have been looking for a strong partner who has the same ideas as we do in terms of quality, innovation and sustainability. The NZZ Media Group is such a partner," said Andreas Nigg (pictured), founder and CEO of Adwebster.
Martin Widmer, Raphael Oppenheim and Remo Prinz, founders and partners of the digital agency Serranetga and the online marketer Stailamedia, have actively supported Adwebster in building up various business areas, as they write in a statement. In the meantime, the innovative start-up has become a professionally managed company with a successful business model, which stands on a stable financial footing. For this reason, they sold their 49 percent stake in Adwebster to the NZZ media group today.
According to the NZZ release, Adwebster is a young company with innovative technology that makes the Swiss online advertising market more efficient and thus appeals to both advertisers and website operators. Thanks to intelligent targeting with anonymized user profiles, the former can place their advertising in a more targeted and therefore more cost-effective manner. Innovative solutions are available to them for the delivery of their online campaigns, mobile and video advertising. For website operators, adwebster optimizes the common networks, e.g. Google AdSense or affiliate networks, through so-called yield management by means of interfaces and thus enables significantly better monetization.
"We want to anticipate the ongoing digitization in the advertising market as best we can. With adwebster, we are taking a stake in a company that has its finger on the pulse of the online advertising market and is helping to shape its dynamics. In addition, we are pleased to support the expansion of an exciting business model internationally," emphasizes Simon Virlis, Head of Project Management at NZZ Media Group.
