Medienvielfalt Holding acquires 100 percent of Baz
MVH is acquiring 100 percent of the shares in Baz Holding, including its publishing houses and printing plants. The previous shareholders, led by Moritz Suter, have stepped down from the company and its board of directors. Filippo Leutenegger will become the new president of Baz.
"Moritz Suter has achieved important things in Basel. It is thanks to him that the Basler Zeitung still exists today as an independent company. Medienvielfalt Holding, with its broad support, will strengthen Baz's position as an independent voice," Tito Tettamanti, main shareholder of Medienvielfalt Holding, was quoted as saying.
The MVH appoints Filippo Leutenegger as Chairman and Delegate of the Board of Directors of Baz. According to the announcement, his task will be to put the company on a sound long-term financial footing. He has already successfully mastered a similar task at the former Jean Frey AG. The previous management of the company with CEO Roland Steffen and Editor-in-Chief Markus Somm has already taken important steps to restructure the company and will remain in office.
