Benetton withdraws campaign motif with Pope
Yesterday, Benetton launched the "Unhate" campaign. The fashion brand, known for its controversial advertising, has now withdrawn one of the campaign's images.
Benetton has since withdrawn the advertising motif with Pope Benedict XVI kissing the Egyptian Imam Ahmed el Tajjeb in the photomontage. According to Horizont.net, a Benetton Group spokesperson assures that the campaign is aimed at combating hate culture in all its forms. The company therefore very much regrets that the picture with the Pope and the Imam offended the faithful. For this reason, the company has decided with immediate effect to refrain from running the image, the spokesperson added.
