SF: Realignment of "Zambo" - reduction of seven full-time positions
The children's program «Zambo,» which is currently airing on SF zwei, will begin airing on SF 1 starting February 29, 2012. At the same time, the broadcast time will be reduced from two hours to one hour of new episodes per day. Seven full-time positions will be eliminated.
Starting February 29, 2012, "Zambo" will be broadcast on SF 1, SF wrote in a statement on Wednesday. The show will be shortened from two hours to one hour of first airings. It will now have a clearer profile with a focus on the 10- to 14-year-old age group and on in-house productions. The shift to SF 1 will also give "Zambo" a reliable slot; because of live sports on SF 2, the show had often been affected by cancellations and postponements.
The change in programming follows a thorough analysis of audience needs as well as cost efficiency, the statement continues. The previous TV offering of "Zambo" had been used below original expectations: Only one in ten children between the ages of 6 and 13 watched "Zambo" on SF zwei. The well-used radio and Internet offering of the trimedial children's program "Zambo" remains unchanged.
The realignment of "Zambo" will involve a reduction of around seven full-time positions, the statement continues; a total of around ten employees will be affected. SRF is trying to keep at least some of those affected in other positions. SRF will provide information later this year about the reprogramming of the slots on SF zwei that will become vacant on February 29, 2012.
