Steve Jobs has died
Steve Jobs died on Wednesday at the age of 56. The co-founder of the computer manufacturer Apple had been battling cancer for a long time.
On the Apple homepage, the usual colorful links to the products (Mac, iPod, iPhone, iPad) have given way to a black-and-white portrait from better times. The US President paid tribute to him as one of the greatest US inventors. The world has lost a visionary, Obama said in a statement.
Steve Jobs only stepped down as head of Apple's business in August. He could no longer fulfill his duties, Jobs wrote at the time. However, he remained with the company as head of the Supervisory Board.
