Snap director with stirring film at Zurich Festival

On Saturday, Snapfilm and Michael Kindermann hosted a truly special movie-going experience. Kai Sehr, who most recently worked on the Rivella project at Snapfilm, screened his award-winning documentary «Skateistan» at the Zurich Film Festival.

Afghanistan has been at war for over 30 years. Despite this, a few young people in Kabul have not yet given up hope of a normal life. With the support of development workers from Australia, they run the first skateboarding school in the region. Their board rides through a city full of oppression become a playful demonstration of the joy of life that prevails despite everything. Kai Sehr has made a documentary film about this extraordinary project. The 95-minute skateboard "clip" was awarded "Winner Most Valuable Documentary of the Year" in Berlin in 2011.

Director Kai Sehr comes from Düsseldorf and has been part of the Zurich-based Snapfilm portfolio for some time. Most recently, the two-time Lions award-winning commercial filmmaker realized two spots for Rivella for Michael Kindermann.

Snapfilm invited 26 customers and guests to a relaxed brunch on the terrace around the premiere at the festival. There, everyone received a finger skateboard and a Snapfilm USB stick filled with Kai Sehr's work as a gift.
