Is Peter Wanner buying Radio 24?
Following his acquisitions of Tele Züri and Tele Bärn, Peter Wanner now wants to take over Tamedia’s Radio 24 as well. The entrepreneur confirmed to the *Handelszeitung* that a takeover of the station is being «considered.».
At the beginning, there was no interest because the asking price was too high. However, the starting position changed in August, when Wanner's AZ Medien came into possession of the two local TV stations. The main reason is the marketing company Belcom, which acquires advertising for Radio 24 and Tele Züri. "We are interested that Belcom is not torn apart," Wanner said, according to Handelszeitung.ch. However, it is still unclear whether he, or rather his AZ Medien, will actually strike.
But if Wanner actually buys Radio 24, he will have to find a legal solution for his stations Argovia and Radio 32 in Solothurn, because the Radio and Television Act only allows the ownership of two stations. Still interested in Radio 24 is Radio 1 owner Roger Schawinski, who could achieve the most synergies by buying back his former station. However, he is said to be unwilling to meet Tamedia's asking price. Escor President Martin Wagner is considered an outsider.
