SW: Graduation ceremony for 89 newly qualified communication planners

This spring, 117 candidates took the Swiss national exams for communications planners. On July 8, they received their diplomas from Urs Schneider, chairman of the examination board, at the graduation ceremony held at the Grand Casino Baden.

Jenny Rentsch from Münchenstein, who achieved the best result with an average grade of 5.2, was the most pleased. With a final grade of 5.1, three graduates achieved "second place": Belinda Pfister from Malix, Fabian Schildknecht from Birmensdorf and Angela Rieker from Gossau. Overall, 76 percent of the candidates from German-speaking Switzerland passed the exam, proving that they have mastered the main subjects of communication planning, media and production.

Advertising as an economic factor
In his welcoming speech, Urs Schneider, Vice President of Schweizer Werbung SW and Chairman of the Audit Committee, emphasized the economic importance of advertising: It generates around six billion francs in turnover and employs around 85,000 people. "Advertising needs the best, you," Schneider addressed the graduates. It requires constant further training, for example to become a communication manager, which, like the federal examinations for communication planners, is carried out by Schweizer Werbung SW on behalf of the Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology OPET. And to underline the importance of further training, Schneider said: "Those who only ever do what they already know will always remain what they already are."
