Leo Kirch is dead
Media entrepreneur Leo Kirch has died. He passed away Thursday morning in Munich at the age of 84, as a spokesperson for Kirch's company, Kirch Media, confirmed to the SDA news agency.
Kirch once owned one of the largest media empires in Germany, including the ProSieben and Sat.1 channels and the pay-TV channel Premiere, now known as Sky. The insolvency of the Kirch Group in 2002 was one of the largest corporate bankruptcies in Germany. Kirch holds the then Deutsche Bank CEO Rolf Breuer responsible and demanded billions in damages. Breuer had questioned Kirch's creditworthiness in an interview. (SDA)
