Sat.1 Switzerland: FDP National Councilor Filippo Leutenegger hosts Arena

Nine years after leaving Swiss television SF, Zurich FDP National Council member Filippo Leutenegger is returning to the screen. Starting in August, the former SF editor-in-chief will host a weekly arena on the private station Sat.1 Schweiz.

"Filippos Politarena" will be broadcast in eight seasons between mid-August and mid-October in the run-up to the federal elections in the fall. This was announced by Sat.1 Switzerland on Sunday. The station thus confirmed a report in the Sonntagszeitung.

Sat1 Schweiz is participating in the political opinion-forming process for the first time with a discussion show, the statement continues. The station is thus making a contribution to the public service. According to Sonntagszeitung, Sat.1 has letters of intent from Swiss regional stations that want to take over the Arena.

"Filippo's Politarena" is based on the arena he hosted at SF from 1991 to 1999. The new program will be broadcast for the first time on August 24 at 10:15 pm. The show is intended to contribute to the diversity of discussions and opinions in the run-up to the National Council and Council of States elections this fall, and to stand up for the democratic opinion-forming process, according to Sat.1 CEO Mike Gut.
