SF: Market share of 30.7 percent in the first half of 2011

According to preliminary results from SRF's midyear analysis, its TV programming has achieved a market share of 30.7 percent. Compared to the first half of 2010, SF 1 has seen a slight increase. News programs, in particular, have recorded an increase in market share.

In the first six months of 2011, SRF's TV channels (SF 1, SF zwei, SF info) achieved an average market share of 30.7% throughout the day, according to the press release. Looking at the individual channels separately, SF 1's market share of 21.0% represents an increase of 0.8 percentage points compared to the 2010 half-year average. Due to the lack of major sporting events, SF zwei lost 3.9 percentage points compared to the previous year (January to June 2011: 8.0% market share). In 2010, SF zwei had benefited greatly from the Winter Olympics in Vancouver and the Football World Cup in South Africa. SF info gained 0.1 percentage points compared to the first half of 2010 (1.8% market share).

Information programs in particular made gains on SF 1. The main edition of "Tagesschau", for example, increased its market share to 50.8% in the first half of 2011 (up 1.6 percentage points on the first half of 2010). "10vor10" achieved an increase of 2.7 percentage points (January to June 2011: 35.1 percent market share), while "Eco" recorded an increase of 3.4 percentage points (21.7 percent). According to the press release, the winners also included "Kassensturz" (32.7 percent; up 1.1 percentage points), "Einstein" (22.5 percent; up 1.1 percentage points) and "Arena" (21.2 percent; up 0.1 percentage points). Entertainment events such as "Die grössten Schweizer Talente" (average market share: 42.4%) and "Alpenrose 2011" (36.4% market share) were also very popular with audiences in the months from January to June 2011.
