Last but not least: Socks that guarantee good weather
In 1999, Blacksocks invented the sock subscription service to free the world from sock-related worries. Twelve years later, the company is making headlines with yet another innovation: the "Good Weather Guarantee" for socks.
Here’s how it works: Anyone who purchases a Shortys or Business Light trial package from Blacksocks by the end of May will receive a certificate for a “good weather guarantee” for the current summer. The guarantee is based on the cumulative amount of precipitation during the summer (June 21 through September 21). If the total precipitation exceeds a certain threshold, the customer will receive a refund of the amount spent on the 3-pack and get to keep the socks. Customers can choose from various official weather stations. They must select one—which will then determine whether or not they receive a refund at the end of the summer. And to help them keep track of their chance for a refund, on Blacksocks.com The cumulative rainfall totals are published and updated once a week.
That's a nice promotion where the customer can't lose. But shouldn't the customer actually get their money back when the weather is nice? After all, when it rains, they tend to have more opportunities to wear their socks—whereas when it's sunny, the purchase wasn't really worth it.
