Last but not least: Was it operational blindness?
A large German bakery advertises its weekly promotion - chocolate vanilla wafers - on posters and notices. Right next to the sweets is a photo of a dark-skinned baby and the words "Chocolate dream". That should have set alarm bells ringing...
It is a company tradition to advertise with children's photos of employees during the weekly campaigns, the bakery's authorized signatory defends the advertising motifs to 20 Minuten. A comparison with the advertising motifs of the current campaign gives rise to the suspicion that company blindness was at play here: the aim seems to be to ensure that the advertised sweet and the photo have as many similarities as possible - especially in terms of color. However, the creators do not seem to have noticed that this approach had unintended side effects with the "chocolate dream".
