Murdoch's son James rises at News Corp.
80-year-old media mogul Rupert Murdoch is arranging his succession. His son James is moving up to become the third-in-command at Murdoch's media conglomerate, News Corp.
The 38-year-old will be appointed Vice President of Operations and Head of International Operations, News Corp. announced on Wednesday. He will move from London to New York.
James Murdoch is the only one of the four adult Murdoch children to work in his father's media empire. He has been regarded as the probable crown prince for several years. However, Rupert Murdoch has repeatedly emphasized that he still has a firm grip on the reins despite his advanced age. Number two in the Group is Chase Carey, who as Chief Operating Officer is responsible for day-to-day business. (sda)
