Micro Newspapers: Beat Rechsteiner becomes Head of Journalism

At the start of the year, Mikrozeitungen appointed Beat Rechsteiner, a former journalist at the Federal Parliament, as head of journalism. At the same time, Rechsteiner now represents the journalism division on the executive board of Gossweiler Media.

As Head of Journalism, Rechsteiner manages and promotes the further development and adherence to the journalistic standards of the micro-newspapers. In particular, he is responsible for the transfer of know-how between the original micro-newspaper Virgin Newspaper and licensees such as the ONZ Obwalden and Nidwalden newspaper. The 33-year-old is in close contact with the editors-in-chief of the Jungfrau Zeitung, Beat Kohler and Samuel Günter, and the editor-in-chief of the ONZ, Francesco Welti.

Beat Rechsteiner began his journalistic career at the age of 18 as a freelancer for the Schaffhauser Nachrichten. After studying journalism and media studies at the University of Zurich, he worked as a sports editor. After two years as foreign editor of Schaffhauser Nachrichten, Rechsteiner became editor and member of the editorial board in 2006. Since November 2008, he has been editor-in-chief of the Mittelland Zeitung and since April 2010 deputy national editor.
